Murder 
A murder is a homicide is the killing of one human being by another either lawfully or unlawfully. Homicide includes unlawful acts, such as murder and manslaughter. It also includes lawful acts when it is excusable and justifiable homicides.
Attempted Murder
In order for a person to be found guilty of attempted murder the government must prove: that a person was acting deliberately and intentionally or recklessly with extreme disregard for human life, and attempted to kill someone; and the person did something that was a substantial step toward committing the crime. Preparation alone is not a substantial step toward committing a crime.
Rape
Rape is defined as an act of sexual intercourse accomplished with a person not the spouse of the perpetrator.” The most common type of rape charge is applies to sexual intercourse "where it is accomplished against a person's will by means of force, violence, duress, menace, or fear of immediate and unlawful bodily injury on the person or another.” Another common form of rape is when a person is “prevented from resisting by any intoxicating or anesthetic substance, or any controlled substance, and this condition was known, or reasonably should have been known, by the accused.
Assault with a Deadly Weapon
Assault with a deadly weapon is the crime of when a person who commits an assault upon the person of another with a deadly weapon or instrument other than a firearm or by any means of force likely to produce great bodily injury. This crime is usually a felony punishable by a term in prison. If a person uses a gun, the punishment becomes more severe. It is not necessary for serious bodily harm to result to be charged with this crime, only that the actions could result in serious bodily injury if the attack would have been complete.
Kidnapping
Kidnapping is the taking away or asportation of a person against the person's will, usually to hold the person in false imprisonment, a confinement without legal authority.
